Biweekly take-home pay by salary
Single filer, standard deduction, no pre-tax deductions, no state income tax. The semimonthly column shows the same salary paid 24 times instead of 26: bigger checks, same annual total. State tax lowers each figure; run your state through the free paycheck calculator or start from the take-home pay calculator's annual view.

Budgeting
The three-paycheck months
26 paydays across 12 months means ten months with two checks and two months with three. If your monthly budget is built on two checks, the third one is unclaimed money: a common move is sending each "extra" check straight to debt or savings, which adds a full month's check to your savings rate without touching the regular budget.

Every pay frequency is a dropdown in the calculator above: weekly (52 checks), semimonthly (24) and monthly (12). Hourly workers can start from the hourly paycheck calculator, which handles overtime hours at 1.5×.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How many biweekly paychecks are there in a year?+
26 in most years, because 52 weeks divide into 26 two-week periods. Every 11 years or so the calendar lines up to give 27 paydays; some employers spread salary over 27 checks that year, which makes each check slightly smaller.
Which months have three biweekly paychecks?+
Two months every year, and which two depends only on your payday schedule: whichever months contain three of your paydays. If your first payday of the year lands in the first two days of January, January is usually one of them. Budgeting by four-week 'months' instead of calendar months sidesteps the whole question.
What's the difference between biweekly and semimonthly pay?+
Biweekly is every two weeks (26 checks); semimonthly is twice a month (24 checks). On a $60,000 salary the biweekly check is $2,308 gross while the semimonthly check is $2,500 gross. The annual total and annual tax are the same; the money just arrives in different slices.
How do I convert a biweekly paycheck to an annual salary?+
Multiply gross biweekly pay by 26. Going the other way, divide salary by 26: $75,000 is about $2,885 gross per biweekly period. To get from that to what you actually receive, taxes have to come out, which is what the calculator above does.
Why does my biweekly withholding look high?+
Payroll annualizes each check: it multiplies the period's wages by 26, computes tax on that yearly figure, and divides by 26. If a check has extra income (overtime, a bonus paid with regular wages), that check is withheld as if you earned that much all year. It evens out on your tax return.
