What time does DailyPay deposit your paycheck?

It depends on which transfer you pick. Instant transfers arrive in minutes, any time of day including weekends, for a small fee. Free next-business-day transfers requested before 11 p.m. ET arrive the following business-day morning. Whatever you don't transfer early — your remainder pay — is deposited the morning of your regular payday.

The three deposit times at a glance

  • Instant transfer: minutes, 24/7 — nights, weekends and holidays included. Costs a flat fee of a few dollars per transfer (free to the DailyPay prepaid card). Goes to a Visa, Mastercard or Discover debit card.
  • Next-business-day transfer: free. Request before 11 p.m. ET and the money is in your bank account the next business-day morning. Business days are Monday–Friday, excluding bank holidays.
  • Payday (remainder pay): anything you didn't transfer early is deposited the morning of your company's regular payday, to the account you chose in the app.

Next-business-day transfers: free, but mind the cutoff

The free option runs on the ACH banking rails, so it follows banking hours. A request made before 11 p.m. ET on a business day arrives the following business-day morning: request Tuesday evening, spend Wednesday morning. Two things trip people up. First, the cutoff — a request at 11:30 p.m. ET counts as the next day's request, adding a full day. Second, weekends: a transfer requested Friday night, Saturday or Sunday doesn't land until Monday morning, and a bank holiday on Monday pushes it to Tuesday. Exactly when it shows up in the morning depends on your bank; some post ACH credits before you wake up, others closer to midday.

Instant transfers: minutes, for a fee

Instant transfers move over debit-card networks instead of ACH, which is why they work around the clock — including the weekend gap that next-business-day transfers can't cover. You'll pay a flat fee of roughly three dollars per transfer, waived if the money goes to DailyPay's own prepaid card. Transfers cap at $1,000 per day across up to five transfers, and the destination has to be a debit card in your own name (American Express cards aren't supported, and a few banks don't accept instant card deposits).

What happens on payday

DailyPay doesn't replace your paycheck — it advances part of it. On your company's scheduled payday, whatever you haven't already transferred (your remainder pay, i.e. gross pay minus taxes, deductions and the early transfers you took) is deposited the morning of payday to your chosen account. If you took no early transfers that period, the full net check arrives that morning as usual. Employers on a cycle-payment setup have their own cutoffs — payments submitted by mid-afternoon ET generally reach the account the same day.

Early transfers don't change your taxes

A common worry: does pulling pay early change your withholding? It doesn't. Taxes come out of your full gross pay on payday as if DailyPay weren't involved, so your net pay for the period is the same — the fees are the only real cost. To see what that net figure should be, run your wage through the paycheck calculator (or the hourly calculator if you're paid by the hour), and how much tax is taken out of a paycheck breaks down every line between gross and net. If you're using DailyPay because the check itself always feels smaller than expected, gross pay vs. net pay explains where the gap comes from.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What time does DailyPay deposit your paycheck on Friday?+

The same rules apply on Friday as any weekday: instant transfers arrive in minutes, and a free next-business-day transfer requested before 11 p.m. ET on Thursday arrives Friday morning. But a next-business-day transfer requested on Friday won't arrive until Monday morning, because Saturday and Sunday aren't business days — use an instant transfer if you need the money over the weekend.

Does DailyPay deposit on weekends?+

Instant transfers work 24/7, including nights, weekends and holidays. Free next-business-day transfers only settle on business days (Monday through Friday, excluding bank holidays), so a request made Friday night, Saturday or Sunday arrives Monday morning.

What time does DailyPay update your available balance?+

Your available balance updates after your employer reports your hours, which for most employers happens once a day after the workday closes. That's why a shift you worked today usually shows up in the app the next morning rather than the moment you clock out. The exact refresh time depends on when your employer's time system sends data to DailyPay.

Why is my DailyPay deposit late?+

The usual causes: the request missed the 11 p.m. ET cutoff (it moves to the following business day), a weekend or bank holiday pushed settlement to the next business day, your bank posts ACH credits later in the morning than others, or the transfer went to a bank account rather than a debit card. If an instant transfer hasn't arrived within a few hours, contact DailyPay support.

Does using DailyPay change how much tax comes out of your paycheck?+

No. Taxes are withheld on your full gross pay on your regular payday, exactly as if you hadn't taken any early transfers. DailyPay advances are your own earned wages paid early, not extra income, so your W-2 and withholding are unchanged — but transfer fees do reduce what you keep.
